Huen San, 67 years old, has been a member of the M-FUND project since July 2020, following a recommendation from a community leader in her village in Sa Kaeo Province.
She migrated to Thailand over 22 years ago and lived with her Thai husband, with whom she had children. Her children have since moved to work in other provinces, and Huen San now lives alone in a small house left behind by her husband, who passed away two years ago.
Despite facing many hardships, she continues to earn a living by doing housework for others in the community, earning around 200 baht per day.
Her health has been a constant concern. She suffers from chronic conditions, including diabetes and high blood pressure, which require her to regularly visit the hospital for medication.
Before joining M-FUND, Huen San had to cover her medical expenses out of pocket, paying between 500–1,000 baht per visit. At times, she had no choice but to purchase expensive medications from private clinics.
Fortunately, she decided to enroll in M-FUND, which has since provided her with much-needed assistance and appropriate care.
She expressed deep gratitude for the kindness and compassion shown by both community staff and healthcare providers, who have treated her with dignity and humanity. She is especially appreciative of the project’s mission to support vulnerable individuals like herself during difficult times.
Although her income is low and unstable, Huen San remains committed to consistently contributing to maintain her membership, ensuring her continued access to healthcare.
She shared her hope with us, saying, "I want M-FUND to continue forever, without end."
