M-FUND Expands Health Protection Scheme in Refugee Camps
Updated: Oct 19

In early 2026, M-FUND officially began providing health protection and access to care for refugees in 3 temporary shelters along the Thai-Myanmar border: Mae La camp in Tak province and Ban Mae Surin and Ban Mai Nai Soi camps in Mae Hong Son Province, together hosting about 50,000 persons. The initiative is coordinated with local authorities, partner hospitals, camp management committees, community representatives, and M-FUND teams.
Since the activities began, 1,700 refugees have already voluntarily enrolled in M-FUND, and enrollment is foreseen to continue growing rapidly. Refugees under M-FUND have already started to access broad quality, free healthcare services in Thai government hospitals under M-FUND coverage. Close to 1,000 outpatient and inpatient admissions have already been covered for members from the camps.
